Why botanical products are more expensive than synthetics

Raw botanical ingredients take time and effort to grow and mature and are often harvested and processed by hand. Chemicals can be artificially synthesised efficiently in volumes.

The cornerstone of natural scents and therapeutic benefits come from distillates and extracts of plants. These are extremely expensive. For example it takes 20 kilograms of cardamom seeds alone to produce 1 kilogram of cardamom distillate. The price of edible-grade cardamom distillate can fluctuate from Rs 9000 per kilogram to Rs 30000 per kilogram.

Also, safe and natural cleaning is a niche market so we do not enjoy the benefits of scale that mainstream products enjoy. Our products are hand made in small, fresh batches and therefore are very labour intensive.
